About Orbis Engineering
Orbis Engineering Ltd. delivers precision fabrication to demanding sectors, primarily Oil & Gas. We're at an exciting growth stage—expanding our capabilities and client base while maintaining ISO 9001 quality standards. Joining us now means shaping the future of the business alongside the founding directors.
The Role
We're seeking a proactive Fabrication Project Manager who thrives in a dynamic, scale-up environment. You'll work directly with—and be supported by—the company directors, managing projects from bid to handover and helping to embed the systems and culture that will carry Orbis through its next phase of growth.
What you'll do
* Lead end-to-end delivery of fabrication projects (DNV Containers, pipework, skids, structural steel, bespoke assemblies).
* Act as the primary client interface: clarify scope, manage change, report progress, and build lasting relationships.
* Develop project plans, budgets, and resource schedules; drive daily/weekly progress reviews.
* Coordinate drawings, weld maps, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, material certs, and QA data packs; ensure full traceability.
* Champion HSE excellence: RAMS, permits, toolbox talks, and compliance with UK legislation and client standards.
* Oversee procurement, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
* Liaise with QC/NDT (VT, PT, MT, UT) and third-party inspectors; close out NCRs and lessons learned.
* Help refine our processes in line with ISO 9001 and support internal/external audits.
* Provide clear forecasting, cost tracking, and risk management; own change control and variations.
What you'll bring
* Proven experience in a similar Fabrication Project Manager (or closely related) role within the engineering sector—ideally Oil & Gas, energy, or heavy industry.
* Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and presentation skills—able to engage confidently with clients, directors, shop-floor teams, and suppliers.
* Strong IT skills, including MS Project (or similar), MS 365, and the ability to learn and implement digital project-management tools.
* Solid understanding of welded fabrication, codes/standards (ASME/EN), materials, and shop/site practices.
* Working knowledge of QA/QC, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, and NDT coordination.
* Strong HSE mindset; IOSH/NEBOSH (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and isometrics.
* Qualifications: HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Production Engineering (or equivalent).
* Bonus points for CSWIP/PCN exposure, pressure systems experience, or client-site mobilisation.
What we offer
* Competitive salary + performance bonus.
* 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
