Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an Applied Psychologist to join a 12-month enhancement of the Intensive Support Team (IST). This post is ideal for HCPC Registered Psychologists with experience working with children and families with autism, seeking to advance into a more senior role on a fixed-term basis.
The IST provides enhanced support to families with autism and/or learning disabilities whose children exhibit challenging behaviors and high-risk behaviors such as self-harm. The goal of the team is to reduce the need for hospital support and help young people, their carers, and families remain in their current home environment.
Main duties of the job
This Is an Exciting New Post Focused On:
1. Providing specialist psychological assessment and intervention to autistic young people in STW, presenting with significant distress and high risk to themselves or others, and at risk of hospital admission.
2. Collaborating with practitioners, young people, families, and stakeholders to improve outcomes.
3. Offering autism-specific, trauma-informed support, advice, and supervision to colleagues in the IST and across BeeU.
4. Leading the development and delivery of best practices in trauma-informed care for autistic young people, including pathways, training, and supervision.
5. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and ensuring governance of psychological practices.
6. Initiating projects, utilizing research skills for audits, policy, and service development.
7. Contributing to teaching, research, and initiatives related to autistic young people's needs within STW.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
As an 8b Psychologist, you will support the MDT within the IST, providing supervision and consultation to clinicians and external agencies. Refer to the detailed job description for more information.

* HCPC Registration (Essential)
Qualifications
* Doctorate level training in applied psychology (or equivalent)
* BSc (Hons) in Psychology
* Post-doctoral training in specialized psychological practice
* Desirable: Qualification in autism diagnostic assessments, therapeutic approaches, experience with children and young people, clinical consultation skills.
Experience
* Substantial experience working with autistic individuals and those with mental health issues, including assessment and intervention.
* Experience delivering trauma-informed psychological care.
* Experience across diverse service user groups and severity levels.
* Desirable: Experience working with children and providing clinical consultation.
