We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a band 5 Staff Nurse into our new Lancashire Elective Surgical Unit. We require an outstanding individual who is a committed, experienced registered nurse to come and join our amazing team.
The unit is a newly established, innovative and dynamic multi-speciality area. It will consist of an admissions area for patients attending hospital on the morning of their surgery and 36 individual rooms for post-operative care. The unit is open Monday to Friday and opens 7am - 21:30pm therefore you will be expected to be flexible.
Main duties of the job
Working alongside the team you will be required to provide a seamless service for patients attending for surgery. You will be required to support an environment and pathways which enables patients to attend with confidence. You will be responsible for the highest standards in safety, quality and clinical governance, whilst delivering outstanding patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To ensure the provision of excellent care with compassion the Staff Nurse is responsible for:
1. Ensuring that the team within their department are adequately resourced and organised.
2. Ensuring the team are adequately supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassion in line with the Trust’s Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework.
3. You will be expected to provide clinical supervision and advice for staff and students in order to support them in reaching their full potential
4. Ensuring the productive operation of the unit/department through the monitoring and maintenance of standards that create a safe, clean and organised environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
5. RN1, RN2, RN8 OR RNC General Nursing Registration
6. NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards following 18 months commencement in post
7. Appropriate NMC Registration
8. Evidence of continuing education or development for more experienced Band 5 nurses
Desirable criteria
9. Degree

10. Awareness of changes within Nursing practice
11. Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
12. Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
13. Willing to expand clinical role eg IV additives, venepuncture and cannulation
14. Demonstrates competency during internship
