Job Overview

Brand new role due to growth and expansion. You’re an experienced Mechanical Engineer who can project engineer NPI projects at our West Midlands manufacturing facility and support our Eastern European site too. We manufacture a range of precision components, pressings, tooling design and sub‑assembly for the Automotive, Medical and Industrial markets.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: Up to GBP 55,000 depending on experience.

Benefits: 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) and 5% pension scheme.

Location

Dudley, West Midlands (commutable to Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Telford, Bridgnorth, Kidderminster, Walsall, West Bromwich, Cannock, Bromsgrove).

Job Description

This is a brand‑new role, created to manage a proportion of NPI projects across various clients in the Industrial, Medical and Automotive sectors. You will handle the requirements of 4–5 projects concurrently, with typical project durations ranging from 6–24 months and values ranging from GBP 200,000 to GBP 2,000,000. Projects are delivered in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing manufacturing environment with demanding customer delivery expectations.

In the first 12 months the role will be challenging, testing your resilience, commercial acumen and project capability. You will be responsible for developing and owning processes, establishing gate reviews, and setting operational KPIs for PPAPs, Right‑First‑Time and OTIF. You will also ensure projects run to budget constraints and manage scope creep.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead NPI projects from concept to completion, developing project plans, project gateways and APQP deliverables
• Manage a variety of tooling projects, including new and customer‑owned or previously supplied
• Drive PPAP and ISIR submission activities with the Quality team
• Communicate project expectations to customers throughout the life cycle
• Manage suppliers, toolmakers and subcontractors
• Support manufacturing and continuous improvement activities

Required Background

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Practical experience delivering NPI projects in the Industrial, Automotive or Medical sectors
• Understanding of APQP methodologies
• Knowledge of tooling
• Recognised project management qualification
• Experience of European manufacturing is a bonus
