Hello, we’re Severn Trent Services, a commercial arm of the Severn Trent Group. We provide water and waste services to companies nationwide, including the MoD and The Coal Authority.
Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also committed to making a difference because we care.
We’re currently recruiting for a Field Technician to join our team, based out of Lownethwaite and supporting the North Yorkshire region.
We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We believe diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us learn and better serve our customers and communities.
If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As our Field Technician, you will be required to maintain, assess, diagnose, determine the most appropriate resolution, and support any interruptions/issues to the water service or sewage treatment process. You will also provide general O&M, installation, and maintenance skills across our contracts.
The key duties include:
* Day-to-day inspection, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater assets to defined internal quality standards.
* Delivering high-quality customer service while meeting health and safety, financial, KPI, statutory, quality, and contractual compliance.
* Collaborating with the scheduling team and line management to maximize productivity and efficiency.
* Providing quality daily job feedback to identify follow-on work and minimize avoidable failures related to water quality and environmental consents.
* Supporting customers and colleagues with technical input when required.
* Managing personal workloads for maximum flexibility, productivity, and effective time management.
* Undertaking activities as skills and abilities allow, including O&M activities, CFS testing, meter verification/installation, lifecycle works, private pipe services, site maintenance, tank inspection, pipework installation/modification, Water Compliance remedial works, etc.
* Maintaining site standards to food grade levels, especially on water assets.
* Supporting local operational incidents.
* Participating in an out-of-hours operational standby rota.
* Carrying out O&M works on a Water Treatment plant capable of producing 5 million liters per day.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
The successful candidate will have experience operating and maintaining water and wastewater assets, along with plumbing installation and maintenance experience. Knowledge of water process treatment & chemistry, particularly river abstraction water treatment, is desirable. A full UK driving license is required. A mechanical qualification is preferred but not essential. We value the right character, positivity, and caring attitude as much as technical skills.
We celebrate diversity and are looking for individuals who show up, get involved, and want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?

* Salary between £25,000 - £30,000 depending on qualifications and experience, plus a 12.5% shift allowance.
