Consultant in Haematology and Transfusion Medicine
In this joint post between NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) and University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB), you will play a central role in delivering safe, effective and evidence based transfusion medicine across Birmingham Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals.
Main duties of the job
You will provide expert clinical leadership, guiding the safe use of blood components, improving transfusion practice, and shaping patient blood management across the region. You will also support the Midlands Regional Transfusion Committee, contribute to national audit and research activity, provide advice to clinical teams, and take part in education and training. This role offers the chance to influence transfusion practice on a regional and national scale while working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to improve patient outcomes.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice and Haematology specialist registration (or eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview).
Experience
* Recent experience of hospital based clinical and laboratory transfusion medicine.
