Overview
We are looking for Software Engineers to drive forward the Defence sector within Electrical and Embedded Systems. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the client project that you support.
Responsibilities
* Configure, build, test and release secure laptops.
* Wrap delivered components (software & hardware) into a holistic single deliverable to the end user.
* Design solutions with a focus on re-use and on-shelf spareability to simplify configuration and maintenance.
Qualifications
* Degree in an applicable Engineering Discipline
Essential Skills
* Competent in Java
* Wide-ranging knowledge of software languages, frameworks and toolsets
* Knowledge/awareness of software architectures
* Large-scale distributed system software design
* Experience developing, deploying and debugging software on Windows
* TCP/IP and IP network protocols
* Microsoft System Center Configuration Management (SCCM)
* Understanding of CVSS scores, patching OS and updates to Group Policy affecting security posture (STIG, etc)
* Aware of standard software development tools (e.g., JIRA, Jenkins, Git)
* Knowledge of high-integrity coding practices (unit testing, static analysis, MISRA, JSF++, HIC++, AUTOSAR)
* Experience following defined process documents (e.g., Software Development Plan SDP)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desire Skills
* Web Services experience
* CI/CD pipeline development and continuous improvement
* Awareness of MS Windows platform
* Awareness of automated testing
* Awareness of certificate chain processes and security policies
* Awareness of requirements management in DOORs or Polarion
* Experience working in a CI/CD environment
Experience
* DevOps experience
* Security hardening of Linux (e.g., SELinux)
* Software configuration management (Bitbucket, Artifactory)
* Change and task management using JIRA (work backlog, problem/report management, action management)
* Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban or SAFe)
* Software build from configuration management using Jenkins (or Git Runners)
* Experience with virtualization
* Previous defence sector experience
