Offer description

An elderly lady from Brechfa requires a Personal Assistant for 5 hours per week to accompany her to appointments and local events and attractions to encourage and enable more social interaction. This will help with her physical exercise. She must have her own car to drive her to the activities and will be reimbursed up to 20 miles per week at 45p per mile.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

* Accompany the employer to appointments, local events and attractions.
* Support the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
* Support the employer in developing independent living skills.
* Provide companionship in the employer's home, engaging in conversation and providing social interaction.
* Encourage the employer to attend appointments.
* Ensure the employer's safety at all times during working hours.
* Carry out any reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
* Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.
* Be mindful of safeguarding issues and provide feedback to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately (01267 228751).
* Contact GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if the employer needs medical assistance.
* Must have own car and be reimbursed up to 20 miles per week at 45p per mile.


Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts

* Develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
* Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
* Contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.


Job Working Environment

Working in the employer's home and supporting access to facilities and community activities in the local area.


Attributes and Qualifications

* Caring, patient and friendly.
* Responsible, reliable and honest.
* Proactive and self‑motivated with the ability to work independently.
* Good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
* Good time‑keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer.
* Ability to keep simple records such as time tracking.
* Good communicator, able to speak on behalf of the employer when required.
* Ability to develop long‑term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
* Full, clean driving licence and car use essential; must be within walking distance of the employer.
* Prepared to add business use to vehicle insurance for work hours.
* Prepared to undergo training to best meet the employer's needs.


Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)

A DBS check will be required for this role, completed upon acceptance of a job offer.
