Main duties of the job JOB PURPOSE • To lead, manage and co-ordinate staff and activity within the community teams. • To provide sound clinical and professional advice and leadership to teams of midwives, support staff and external agencies within the CCG. • To liaise with other professional groups in relation to pregnancy and the transition into parenthood to accelerate quality, safety and health for women, babies and families in the local community. • To provide expert clinical advice in relation to the educational, managerial and leadership of teams of midwives and support staff. • To provide expert care, support and advice to women and their families throughout their antenatal and postnatal period, in accordance with The Code for nurses and midwives (NMC, 2015) • To empower and enable midwives to advocate for women in relation to birth choices, complex birth and personalised care planning • To provide expert intrapartum care and advice in relation to home births. • To lead on the development, planning and future implementation of services in line with recent government drivers and local recommendations and initiatives. • The post holder will be working as a key member of a multi-professional team and will display excellent communication and leadership skills • To be involved in the development, co-ordination and management of new continuity teams. Currently in clinical job descriptions only I cant see any reason why Managerial • To organise, manage and support teams in providing safe, effective, individualised continuity of care for all mothers throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. • To support, direct and have final responsibility for activity, staff cover and skill mix in each community team, applying principles of risk assessment and management to ensure safe and effective service provision. • To observe, nurture and direct midwives to manage a caseload for a defined group of childbearing women. • To lead and support teams of midwives in pursuing excellence to provide and promote Midwife Led Care to those women identified as low risk. • To organise and prioritise own workload and delegate work to other health care and administration staff. • To collect, collate and monitor performance, activity and workforce information relative to the role.
