This diverse role sits within the applications team and will be split between flavour library evaluation, applications support and flavour sampling. The applications team at Synergy showcases customers our flavouring solutions by incorporating our flavourings into great tasting food and beverages This role is a vital part of supporting Synergy’s flavour library. This includes evaluating flavourings in a range of different sweet and savoury products (applications) such as flavoured waters and ice creams. The candidate will then arrange and run sensory tasting sessions as well as process the library data results. Another part of this role is assisting the applications team on both reactive and proactive customer briefs. This will involve supporting the sweet (beverage, nutrition, sweet goods, dairy) and savoury teams on a range of different projects. Daily tasks will include making up samples for customer projects and working collaboratively with the Synergy team to ensure we answer customer briefings efficiently and accurately to meet and exceed customer expectations. The role will also assist in the sampling of flavours to support customer needs and covering library stock duties to ensure the flavour library is fully stocked. Objectives, Roles and Responsibilities Flavour Library Run the flavour library process by organising flavour evaluations Create samples for assessment as part of the library evaluations process Applications Support Prepare samples for customer and internal briefs to support the applications team Ensure that the lab is kept clean, tidy and well stocked with consumables and ingredients and that the labs are kept to a high standard with regard to food safety Attend sensory sessions to support the work of the innovation team Cover running of sensory tests if required Flavour Sampling Ensure flavour library stock is managed when covering the senior portfolio technician Process off-shelf flavour requests through the tablet to Sample Bay. Decant and label flavour samples. Process application samples through the tablet to Sample Bay. Process flavour creation samples through the tablet to Sample Bay (decanting and labelling). There may from time to time be a request to assist with duties not listed above, within reason. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience ( Required to perform the job ) Essential GCSEs or equivalent including Maths, English and Science Good knowledge of basic Microsoft software – Word/Excel/PowerPoint Highly desirable A level/ BTEC or equivalent Passionate about food Good communication skills Organised with attention to detail A team player Flexible and practical with a ‘can do’ attitude Numerical accuracy
