Job Reference: HCC623816
Salary Range: £27,780 - £30,564 per annum
Work Location: Trafalgar House, Winchester
Hours per week: 37
Contract Type: Permanent
Closing Date: 26 April 2026
Interview Date: w/c 11 May 2026
The Role:
To contribute to the effective delivery of workflows within the Asset Information Team as part of the Highways Operations Centre. Support the accurate, timely and customer focused provision of status and searches information, ensuring processes are followed efficiently and in a cost effective and timely manner.
What you’ll do:
You’ll manage and prioritise a varied workload, ensuring customer enquiries and requests are handled accurately, professionally and on time. You’ll investigate and resolve more complex cases, escalating where necessary, while delivering excellent customer service throughout.
Working collaboratively within the team, you’ll contribute to shared goals, maintain high-quality standards, and support continuous learning by sharing knowledge with colleagues.
A key part of the role involves preparing accurate GIS maps and maintaining up‑to‑date highway records in line with statutory requirements. You’ll process and issue Con29 search responses, liaise with search companies, solicitors and the public, and ensure appropriate charges are recovered.
You’ll also support financial processes, including invoicing and payment tracking, and assist with legal documentation and applications in partnership with managers and legal services.
To ensure service resilience, you’ll undertake training across other Highways Operation Centre functions and provide cover where needed.
Finally, you’ll help identify opportunities for process improvement and may assist during out‑of‑hours periods in response to weather‑related emergencies.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone qualifed to A‑level (or equivalent experience) and a strong background in process‑driven or customer‑focused work. You’ll need to be confident analysing information, interpreting legal documents and historic maps, and working with accuracy and attention to detail.
You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office, with an awareness of GIS systems, and able to communicate clearly, build effective relationships, and work both independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise, and a proactive approach to meeting deadlines are essential.
It would be an advantage if you have experience in highway or local authority environments, familiarity with highway management services, or knowledge of systems such as Confirm. Experience working within a political or public‑sector setting would also be beneficial.
