Service Engineer (Field/Mobile Mechanic/Vehicle Technician)
Preston Territory
Monday to Friday, 40 Hours a Week
£31,000 - £34,000 Starting Salary

This role is with a highly successful international manufacturer of forklift trucks. It offers a field-based position within a small geographical area, providing excellent on-the-job training, a comprehensive benefits package, and clear progression routes.
The role is suitable for engineers from various backgrounds such as plant, forklifts, HGV, agricultural equipment, or similar. Vehicle technicians looking to transition into this industry are encouraged to apply, as full training will be provided. Mechanical service and repair skills, engine diagnostics, and basic electrical skills are required.
The company manufactures forklift trucks. You will be part of a team responsible for carrying out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on forklifts and related equipment in Preston, with minimal travel and no overnight stays. Overtime is available mostly during weekdays.
Key responsibilities include:
* Carrying out PPM and breakdown repairs on materials handling machinery
* Providing reactive breakdown coverage within the designated area
* Completing comprehensive training to become fully competent on all machinery and equipment
* Storing spares in the van overnight
Candidate requirements:
* Experience with plant, forklifts, HGV, agricultural, or similar equipment; automotive technicians or motor trade backgrounds are also suitable
* Engine diagnostics and basic electrical skills
* Ideally, a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject
