Job Overview
1. The Handyperson Joiner operative will be responsible for general basic maintenance duties throughout the hospital. This role requires flexibility, as the operative will need to acquire elements of other skills to perform various tasks. Working as part of an effective Professional Estates Maintenance team, the post holder should demonstrate drive, enthusiasm, and self-motivation, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
This is a shift-based position, requiring participation in a 24/7, -day rotating shift pattern, with an average working week of 38.5 hours. The post holder must also be available for reasonable overtime as needed. The primary workplace will be the Royal Victoria Hospital or Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, though work at other sites may be required with reasonable notice.
Main Duties
2. Perform Joinery works including Fire Door inspections and remedial repairs etc.
3. Perform various minor maintenance duties.
4. Respond to breakdown maintenance requests.
5. Conduct routine plant checks.
6. Undertake general cleaning duties as necessary.
7. Assist other maintenance personnel when needed.
8. Work safely in accordance with company Health and Safety procedures.
9. Help maintain accurate estates records and plant history.
10. Participate in out-of-hours on-call procedures if required.
11. Address new situations as they arise.
12. Share working knowledge as required.
13. Undertake training as necessary.
