The Role
A client-facing payroll leadership role within a professional services environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality payroll services while developing and managing a team.
You’ll oversee a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery while contributing to business growth and service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day payroll operations across a portfolio of clients
* Manage weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll cycles
* Review payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance
* Support and develop junior team members, including reviewing work and providing feedback
* Manage team performance, appraisals, and workload allocation
* Act as a key point of contact for client payroll queries
* Identify opportunities to enhance payroll services and support business development
* Build relationships with clients, intermediaries, and external stakeholders
* Stay up to date with payroll legislation and industry developments
The Ideal Candidate
* Strong end-to-end UK payroll experience (multi-frequency preferred)
* Experience supervising or managing a payroll team
* Background in payroll bureau or professional services environment advantageous
* Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
* Commercial awareness with an interest in business development
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
