Location: Northern Ireland (Hybrid) Contract: 6 Months Rate: £40-£50 per hour Status: Outside IR35 We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the development of specialist mobile equipment for a leading engineering manufacturer based in Northern Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in off-highway, construction, agricultural, mining, or specialist vehicle design, ideally gained with organisations such as JCB, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Terex, Volvo CE, Liebherr, CNH, or similar OEMs. The role is hybrid, requiring regular onsite presence in Dungannon. Key Responsibilities Electrical system design for mobile/off-highway equipment Creation and modification of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Selection and integration of sensors, actuators, ECUs, and control systems Support vehicle development, testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities Liaise with mechanical, hydraulic, manufacturing, and software engineering teams Support prototype builds and engineering change processes Ensure compliance with relevant electrical and machine safety standards Essential Experience Proven experience designing electrical systems for off-highway vehicles or mobile machinery Background within construction equipment, agricultural machinery, mining equipment, ground support equipment, specialist vehicles, or similar sectors Strong understanding of 12V/24V vehicle electrical systems Experience with electrical schematic design tools Knowledge of CANbus/J1939 communication systems Ability to work independently within a fast-paced engineering environment Desirable Experience with vehicle control systems and functional safety concepts Previous work with OEMs such as JCB, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo CE, Terex, CNH, Liebherr, John Deere, etc. Prototype and new product development experience
