Join us as a Component Engineering Manager at our Advanced Manufacturing Centre in Ulverston, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing the production of precision‑engineered components for our industry‑leading subsea connector products. You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring health and safety standards are met while fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture. Imagine driving continuous improvement initiatives and enhancing our machining and moulding capabilities, all while supporting the needs of our Production and Product Development teams. Your leadership will be pivotal in promoting operational efficiencies and maintaining our high‑value equipment, ensuring we meet the evolving demands of our industry.
Responsibilities
* Ensure ongoing health and safety oversight in alignment with the Start Safe initiative, maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
* Conduct regular one‑to‑one meetings and performance appraisals to support team development and foster a collaborative culture.
* Develop and implement training and succession planning strategies to enhance team capabilities and future‑proof our workforce.
* Drive enhancements in functional capabilities by exploring technology improvements and upgrading equipment to meet evolving needs.
* Manage and improve work pipeline planning processes, standardising approaches to enhance efficiency and productivity.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing machining and moulding capabilities to support Production and Product Development teams, promoting operational efficiencies and maintaining high‑value equipment.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred).
* Proven experience in a managerial role within an engineering environment.
* Strong understanding of subtractive manufacturing processes (CAD/CAM/CNC) and/or moulding processes (compression/injection/RTV/LSR).
* Ability to interpret detailed component part drawings and familiarity with GD&T.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement.
* Strong understanding of health & safety oversight and compliance with the Start Safe initiative.
