Assistant Manager – City Centre Bar (Newcastle)
Location: Newcastle City Centre
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £28,000 – £34,000 per year + bonus + incentives (depending on experience)
We are looking for an ambitious, energetic, and hands-on Assistant Manager to join our city centre venue. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced bar environment and wants to progress their career within a growing and dynamic hospitality group.
You will work closely with the General Manager to deliver exceptional customer experiences, lead the team from the front, and help drive the commercial success of the venue.
About the Role
As Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the bar. You will lead shifts, motivate staff, ensure excellent service standards, and help maximise sales while maintaining tight operational control.
This role is ideal for someone currently working as a Supervisor, Team Leader, or Assistant Manager in a busy bar, nightclub, or late-night venue.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
* Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a vibrant atmosphere
* Support, train, and develop bar staff to achieve high performance
* Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring new team members
* Help drive sales through upselling, promotions, and customer engagement
* Monitor stock, reduce wastage, and support stock control procedures
* Ensure licensing laws, health & safety, and company policies are followed
* Handle customer feedback professionally and resolve issues effectively
* Support the General Manager in achieving financial and operational targets
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role in bars, pubs, or nightclubs
* Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team
* Excellent communication and people skills
* High energy, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
* Ability to remain calm under pressure in busy environments
* Commercial awareness and understanding of bar operations
* Personal Licence is essential
* Passion for hospitality and delivering memorable experiences
