Buyer (Indirect Procurement) – Remote Working – Defence & Advanced Technology Summary: We are recruiting on behalf of a leading defence and technology organisation that delivers advanced maritime and mission-critical solutions to customers worldwide. This is a permanent opportunity for a Buyer - Indirect Procurement to join a fast-paced and highly regulated environment, supporting the sourcing of indirect goods and services across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in supplier management, contract negotiation, cost control and ensuring continuity of supply to support operational and project requirements. Responsibilities: Negotiate supplier contracts using procurement best-practice tools Balance cost, quality and delivery requirements Issue RFQs and Purchase Orders in line with company and government regulations Maintain accurate supplier, part and cost data within ERP systems Ensure continuity of supply and proactively manage supply chain risks Manage supplier order books, expediting and prioritising orders Identify and deliver cost-reduction and value-improvement opportunities Liaise with Production, Quality Assurance and Programme teams Ensure on-time, in-full delivery of materials and services Monitor market trends and assess supplier capability Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive improvement actions Support procurement KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives Manage defective material returns and replacement procurement Skills: Proven experience within Indirect Procurement Strong negotiation and supplier management capability Excellent written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. IFS or similar) Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel capability Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Self-starter and ability to work independently Personal Attributes: Proactive, positive and delivery-focused mindset Well organised with strong attention to detail Resilient and effective when working under pressure Collaborative approach with diverse teams and stakeholders
