Main duties of the job There is a Da Vinci Xi robot at Preston which is used by multiple specialities. In addition to local and network cancer MDTs there are weekly complex pelvic MDT with colorectal and gynae-oncological surgeons, plus pelvic floor and stone MDTs reflecting the specialist urological practice at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. Experience in Robotic cystectomy is not essential as it is anticipated that the workload that centralisation offers will allow the opportunity to undertake a formal, proctored development programme. About us The urology department is an integral part of the trusts aim to be a centre of excellence for surgical services and has expanded from 3 to 10 consultants over the last 15 years. The latest expansion is due to the centralisation of the cystectomy service to Royal Preston Hospital and gives exciting opportunity to develop a tertiary level service across Lancashire and South Cumbria. This is under review and further centralisation may occur over the next couple of years. When on-call, the successful candidate will be expected to manage basic urological paediatric emergencies.
