Duty Manager – 3-Star Hotel (Ullapool, Scotland)
Overview
As Duty Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel during your shifts, ensuring exceptional guest service and smooth coordination across departments. This role requires flexibility and commitment to a split-shift schedule, typical in small hospitality teams.
Responsibilities
* Guest Services
o Act as the main point of contact for guests during your shift.
o Handle complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
o Ensure a welcoming and helpful atmosphere throughout the hotel.
* Operational Oversight
o Supervise front office, housekeeping, and food & beverage operations.
o Ensure smooth handovers between split shifts.
o Monitor service standards and address any shortfalls.
* Staff Coordination
o Support and guide team members during shifts.
o Assist with training and onboarding of new staff.
o Maintain morale and teamwork across departments.
* Health, Safety & Security
o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
o Respond to emergencies and incidents as per hotel procedures.
o Secure hotel premises and assets during your shift.
* Administrative Duties
o Complete shift reports and communicate key updates to management.
o Assist with stock control and basic financial tasks (e.g., cashing up).
o Attend briefings and contribute to operational planning.
Requirements
* Previous experience in hotel operations or hospitality management.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to work split shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
* Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities.
* Knowledge of hotel systems (PMS, POS) is an advantage.
