J P Forrest & Son are sub contract engineers specialising in medium-heavy fabricated and machined components up to 20 tonnes, manufactured to customer-specific requirements in small batches or one-offs, such as gearbox housings, main frames and sub-assemblies for industries including Rail, Oil and Gas, Steel making, Recycling, Nuclear, Renewable Energy and Quarrying.
You will be required to program, set and operate our CNC lathe, turning a variety of components up to 560 diameter and up to 1350 long, such as shafts, sleeves, housings, cover plates and couplings to very close tolerances, usually one-offs or small batch quantities.
You will be working under your own initiative formulating the best method to produce any given job correctly and within budget.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Significant recent experience (5+ years) of this exact type of work.
- High standard of English
- Authorisation to work in the UK
- Ability to reliably commute to Worksop, S81 7DJ, or plan to relocate before starting work.
IDEALLY YOU WILL HAVE:
- Experience of programming and operating Fanuc CNC controls, however this is not essential, as training can be arranged if necessary.
- skills/experience on manual centre lathes, as we may need you to work on these from time to time.
Normal working hours are as follows:
* 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
* 7.30am – 4.30pm: Monday to Thursday
* 7.30am – 12.30pm: Friday
