Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our friendly and supportive team based at Furness General Hospital. The vacancy is open to e xperienced Dietitian s wishing to expand their skills.
The post holder will work independently as an autonomous practitioner providing flexible and patient centred care .
Provides support in the specified clinical area(s) with specialist knowledge, skills and experience to advise and support staff on managing complex clinical issues for the Dietetic site service and at the other Dietetic sites as required .
The post holder will take responsibility for the management of their own caseload without direct supervision, whilst continuing to develop specialist clinical skills, knowledge and experience as identified in the post holder’s Appraisal and Development Review (ADR ).
Main duties of the job
The successful applic ant will work as part of a small team, with the support of experienced dietitians. The post covers a range of inpatient work including medical, surgical, orthopaedics, oncology and stroke management as well as outpatient clinics. As such, you will gain experience in a wide range of clinical areas such as nutrition support, enteral feeding and gastroenterology .
O pportunities to gain experience in dietetic specialist areas will be supported where appropriate .
The department is approved for training both ‘2’ and ‘3’ placement dietetic students. We have excellent IT facilities and are committed to personal development and training.
Working for our organisation
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and Qualifications
* Post graduate study relevant to post
* Clinical supervisory skills course
Experience
* Post graduate clinical experience in an acute setting
* Experience of working with a variety of clinical specialities
* Development and delivery of group sessions
* Experience as a supervisor of Dietetic staff
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Able to demonstrate multi disciplinary team working
* Competent in a range of IT systems
