Job responsibilities
You will be a vital support to our busy Dispensary team, dispensing medications for inpatients, outpatients and discharge medicines, along with emergency medicines for our ambulance service and serving patients and staff at our Pharmacy Reception.
You should be passionate about quality of care, want to work as part of a team and have a keen desire to learn.
Excellent practical problem solving and prioritisation skills, and an ability to deal with all types of people are essential.
You should also have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and be able to work under pressure.
Dispensing experience is desirable however we will consider applicants with previous healthcare or customer service‑based experience.
Applicants must have 5 GCSEs (Grade C (4-9) and above or equivalent) which must include English, Maths and Science. Proficient computer skills are essential.
7.5hrs shifts between the hours of 8.30a.m and 6p.m, 7 days a week. (To be discussed at interview). Flexibility with shift patterns may be required to suit the changing needs of the service.
Undertake basic dispensing duties under the direction of the Dispensary Manager or Pharmacist in charge.
Put away stock, empty green bags, fill up ancillary items for dispensing and generally maintain good housekeeping in the dispensary.
Receive prescriptions, handle payment and verify relevant exemption forms at the counter and assist in selling over the counter medicines from the Pharmacy shop in accordance with legal requirements.
Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries and requests appropriately, referring calls and taking messages while ensuring strict confidentiality.
Undertake any other tasks requested by the dispensary manager, following strict SOPs.
Liaise with Pharmacy procurement support for the efficient and timely processing of invoice and credit note transactions within the pharmacy stock control systems to facilitate the prompt payment of suppliers.
