About the role
St Clare's Catholic School, Burdell is seeking a dedicated and experienced school officer - assisting student learning (ASL) to commence 19 May 2025 completing 25 hours (Monday to Friday) per week until 5 December 2025. The role is a Fixed Term, Term Time position.
The School Officer – Assisting Student Learning (ASL) works under the direction and supervision of a teacher to provide learning and classroom support to all students including students who have identified additional needs to access and participate in schooling.
Typical Duties
The typical duties of the role may include:
a. Providing support to individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to participate in learning and school activities
b. Assisting students (either individually or in groups) with specific learning needs including scribing, reading, which may include providing feedback and observations to the classroom teacher(s)
c. Assisting in the support of student engagement by reinforcing appropriate student behaviour
d. Providing practical assistance to students in using classroom technology
e. Performing administrative tasks of record maintenance, producing resources (eg. Printing, laminating etc) and other classroom administrative support
f. Assisting in the maintenance of a clean and tidy classroom environment including storage facilities and assisting in setting up appropriate classroom/learning space
g. Providing routine support to students in relation to their physical needs (eg. mobility support) and personal care (eg. toileting, feeding)
Mandatory Criteria
1. Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
2. Current Drivers Licence
3. Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
4. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Desirable Criteria
5. No formal qualification is required;, however, a Cert III in School Based Education Support or equivalent.
