We are seeking a patient, caring, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Gravesend, starting ASAP. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with special educational needs and make a real difference to their learning, confidence, and wellbeing.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision. Staff work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals to provide personalised support for pupils. Senior leadership values SEN staff and provides guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work with pupils who have a range of additional needs, which may include autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). Support may be delivered 1:1 or in small groups, depending on pupil requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs
* Work 1:1 or in small groups to support learning and engagement
* Assist pupils with academic tasks, communication, and emotional regulation
* Implement strategies from EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
* Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction
* Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and playtimes
* Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and support staff
* Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback
* Promote independence while offering appropriate support
* Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies at all times

* Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or communication difficulties is highly desirable, but the school welcomes candidates with transferable experience and a willingness to learn.
