About the Role:
As a SEN Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to assist pupils with a variety of special educational needs. Your role will involve helping students access the curriculum, supporting their social and emotional development, and promoting independence and confidence in the classroom.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEN, assist in adapting resources and learning activities to meet individual needs.
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, help manage behaviour and promote positive interactions.
Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
Monitor and report on pupil progress to teachers and support staff, collaborate with teaching staff, support staff, and parents to meet pupil needs.
Support pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and extracurricular activities.
Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) or tailored strategies.
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils.
Requirements:
Experience working with children, ideally with additional or special educational needs is desirable but those who are willing to work are also encouraged to apply.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting children.
Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ in Childcare/Education/ Teaching Assistant/SEN are desirable.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
