What's involved with this role: Temporary Maintenance Assistant x3 - Housing Repairs Reference no: Caerphilly 5246435 Pay rate: £12.18 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:00 This opening assignment is for 3-4 months City: TREDOMEN The purpose of this role is to support and assist the Maintenance Technicians in the repair, refurbishment and new contract work to domestic, industrial and public buildings. Key responsibilities: Assist Maintenance Technicians in pre-inspecting and diagnosing selected repair requirements via the Maintenance Schedule of Rates; to identify required resources, materials and plant to undertake building maintenance works and ensure the efficient use of these resources. Daily completion of job tickets and timesheets either electronically (by mobile device) or via paper records, describing works undertaken in sufficient detail to assist in the calculation of performance and invoicing data. Action the instructions and requirements relating to the delivery of Housing Repair Operations / WHQS Section via the various methods adopted for work allocation. Accurately record work undertaken via the Maintenance Schedule of Rates identifying relevant Schedule of Rates codes, actual working time, materials and plant used in the execution of Housing Repair Operations / WHQS Section work. Ensure the safe use and storage of plant and materials issued to the post holder in the course of their duties and where required ensure that material issued for imprest material van stocks are maintained and replenished to satisfy stock taking requirements. When required, collect materials, deliver to site and ensure that all residual waste materials arising from maintenance works are taken from site and disposed of in accordance with service guidelines. Attend and take part in training initiatives specific to the post holders’ role and the requirements of the service. Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and relevant Council policies and procedures and take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be adversely affected by your acts or omissions. Experience & Knowledge: Understanding of property, maintenance and construction projects. Knowledge of associated building trade practices relevant to the level of training received (i.e. semi-skilled). Relevant experience within a contract environment for refurbishment, installation or new build environment. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise own work load and meet target deadlines. Practical skills and technical ability (relevant to the level of training received) associated with relevant building trade. An effective communicator. Technical building skills. Able to maintain minimum standards identified by maintenance technicians, foreman or line manager. Ability to meet targets and objectives within timescales. Capable of working on own initiative or within a team environment. Flexible in approach to work duties and to working hours during the normal working week and job skills. Full Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a Council van. Availability and willingness to work during an emergency situation if required.
