Overview
The Gatehouse Veterinary Centre is looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our friendly and supportive team. This role is perfect for someone who loves the challenge of a busy reception desk. The Receptionist is the first point of contact for our clients in a busy environment, ensuring all clients and their pets have a comfortable and positive experience within the surgery. You will meet and greet clients, answer the telephone, book appointments, sign up new clients, take payments, maintain records, and provide information on our products and services such as our Pet Health Club while maintaining a clean clinical environment.
Responsibilities
* Greet all clients in a friendly and professional way.
* Answer telephone calls from clients in a welcoming and calm manner.
* Provide excellent customer service, informing and educating clients sympathetically.
* Convert inquiries into appointments to maintain pet healthcare.
* Efficiently organise the appointment diary.
* Handle and update client data and records.
* Record relevant information in the practice system to support the clinical team.
* Ensure the accuracy of invoices and collect payments on the day of treatment.
* Make pre-op reminder calls and reschedule missed appointments.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital is preferred, but experience in other animal care roles will be considered.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations with empathy and professionalism.
* Proficient in using computer systems for scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
* Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
Work Schedule
This role involves working 30 hours per week from Monday to Friday with 1 in 6 Saturdays. You would be expected to work at each of the sites during holidays for cover. Weekend work is at the main branch in Lavister.
