Role Overview:

Marshall Land Systems is hiring within their production teams for skilled Mechanical Assembly Technicians at their site in Cambridge (postcode CB5 8RX). The role is pivotal in high-profile military projects involving the production of vehicles and containers. Your ideas and contributions will be valued in a business that truly values its people.

Duties include:

1. Manufacture, assemble, and build specialist projects using engineering drawings and design data to meet business and customer expectations.
2. Install rivets using pneumatic rivet guns.
3. Apply silicone and sealants using various preparation methods.
4. Operate battery and electric-powered drill guns.
5. Wear correct PPE and maintain safety standards at all times.
6. Work from engineering drawings, written instructions, and 3D models.
7. Assemble and join different panels and parts.
8. Perform torquing, torque marking, recording, and complete job travelers.
9. Follow health and safety protocols and company procedures.
10. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
11. Work in pairs or alone to achieve daily targets.
12. Use approved and calibrated tools for fettling.
13. Record work progress and sign in using computers.
14. Inspect and record work before passing to the next stage.
15. Treat aluminium or steel panels with chemicals such as sicoseal.
16. Drill, ream, and countersink aluminium, steel, wood, and PVC components.
17. Support Production Managers and Team Leaders to ensure timely, budget-compliant, high-quality project delivery.
18. Complete tasks within allocated timeframes.
19. Understand and adhere to configuration control processes.
20. Maintain production processes and procedures.
21. Follow health and safety management systems.
22. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean and 5S.
23. Keep the work area clean and compliant.
24. Identify and communicate equipment and tooling needs to line managers.
25. Attend and support production meetings as required.
26. Complete daily timesheets.

Qualifications

Essential:

* Mechanical, fitting, or joining experience.
* Experience in automotive or heavy industry is highly desirable.
* Experience in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or similar trades is beneficial.
* Understanding of assembly processes and techniques.
* Skills gained through training and experience, with good communication within a team.
* Familiarity with workshop environments.
* Understanding of production methods and processes.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and design data.
* Planning skills and understanding.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

* Completion of City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in relevant fields.
* Understanding of appraisals/PDRs.
* Semi-skilled candidates with manufacturing/production experience will be considered.

Suitable backgrounds/disciplines include:

* Coach builders, kitchen fitters, sheet metal workers, fabricators, joiners, shop fitters, and specialist vehicle builders.
