How you'll make a difference
As a Senior Practitioner, you will make a difference by improving the quality of services provided to adults with care and support needs. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring performance and quality standards across the Adult Social Care team are met and delivered to vulnerable adults in our community.
What will you be doing?
1. Under the supervision of a Team Manager, you will take a proactive role in carrying out Organisational Safeguarding enquiries, ensuring effective links with service providers.
2. You’ll be responsible for maintaining records and making recommendations related to Organisational Safeguarding issues and participating in all relevant meetings.
3. You will liaise with Social Work or Occupational Therapy staff, and other associated staff, regarding safeguarding enquiries, social care assessments, support plans, practice, and decision-making.
4. Occasionally, you may be required to deputise for the Team Manager and chair safeguarding strategy and review meetings or attend meetings with other agencies.
5. You will maintain and promote effective partnerships with relevant agencies including the CCG and CQC to achieve the best outcomes for service users. This may involve developing and implementing multi-agency policies and procedures.
6. As an experienced practitioner, you will keep your professional skills and knowledge of legislation and practice up to date. You may also act as a practice educator for qualifying and newly qualified staff.
What we need from you
1. You will hold a relevant professional qualification, e.g., DipSW, CQSW, CSS, OT Diploma, or degree, and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
2. You will have relevant post-qualifying experience in a social care setting and experience of dealing with complex cases.
3. You’ll be able to provide evidence of ongoing professional development, knowledge of current legislation and practice related to social care, and the ability to assess and manage risk.
4. You’ll have experience in workload allocation and prioritisation to optimise service efficiency, team skills, and service user outcomes, and be capable of supervising casework.
5. Ideally, you will be a qualified Best Interest Assessor with experience of implementing change effectively.
Please note that due to the nature of this role, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for employment. You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding areas, so a full valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or alternative appropriate means of travel is necessary.
