At its heart, the role pivots around shared endeavour and focuses on developing and delivering programmes, projects and initiatives across a range of stakeholders and member companies of all sizes, expertise and backgrounds.



This role offers the opportunity to work in a diverse and dynamic environment and provides a chance to bring new ideas and thinking. The post-holder reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Director of Warrants and Communications and Head of Events.


Job Title: Development Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: 35 hours per week (full time) with a minimum of 4 days in the office

Salary: £35,000-£40,000 (depending on experience) plus benefits (25 days holiday, contributory pension)

Location: 1 Buckingham Place, London SW1E 6HR www.royalwarrant.org

Key Responsibilities


The main duties to be carried out by the post-holder include:


Sustainability Programmes

* Lead on Nature Recovery (NR) initiatives for members, working with a range of external partners. Developing policy thinking and practical engagement with our companies, specialists and agencies, creating a cadre of members in this vital area which will offer insight, expertise and exemplification to the membership more broadly.
* Take ownership of regional sustainability/NR meetings.
* Support the Events Team with workshops and seminars by sourcing guest speakers and suggesting topical themes.


Member Engagement

* Responsible for working with relevant stakeholders to proactively gather positive news stories for communications, supported by the Events and Marketing Co-ordinator.
* Liaise with member companies to identify, support and promote opportunities across the wider membership.
* Responsible for building relationships and strengthening partnership activities, while supporting the Events and Marketing Co-ordinator who is actively securing sponsorship and partnership opportunities through the Association’s event programme.


Special Projects

* Advance ideas and think collaboratively and creatively in the development of one-off projects, agreed with the Executive Director.
* Support the Executive Director on managing international trade missions.
* Support the Events Team and lead on the organisation of periodic partner events (e.g., with Government departments).


Communications and Social Media

In support of the Director of Warrants and Communications:

* Identify opportunities and develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy supported by the Events and Marketing Co-ordinator.
* Leading on enhancing and delivering content for digital and print and the compilation and commissioning of content for social media, magazines and other publications as agreed and, with the Events and Marketing Co-ordinator, managing communications to members via the Association’s main channels.
* Manage projects to strengthen both the exclusive members’ website and public-facing content.


Local Associations

* Build strong internal relationships with relevant stakeholders and serve as the primary point of contact for the five Local Associations. This includes managing queries and ensuring regular meetings, and other business, are conducted as necessary.
* Provide support and guidance to Local Associations so they are aligned across a range of areas including events, activities, digital platforms.
* Provide ideas and leads for local company “hub" activities.
* Report on topical information relevant to the National Association.

Person Specification


Qualifications, skills and experience

* Experience of working and engaging with membership bodies, or similar, requiring experience of digital and social media.
* Proven interest in, and knowledge of, sustainability initiatives and an understanding of business sustainability practices.
* Middle or senior level project management experience ideally with some knowledge or experience of project management software / tools.
* Accomplished written and verbal communication skills and experience.
* Working knowledge of website development, including functionality and content and the ability to direct changes and enhancement.
* Experience of creating and managing engaging content on various social media platforms to build an audience and promote a brand or product.
* Skills in relationship-building, particularly liaising with multiple stakeholders. Proven ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organisation, including senior management and C-suite.
* Excellent IT skills, MS Office suite.
