Job Description
Abatec is assisting a leading M&E contractor seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Hinkley Point C. Our client is at the forefront of delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, ensuring cost control and compliance with financial targets.
* Help produce and manage cost estimates, forecasts, and reports.
* Support the preparation and analysis of tenders, contract negotiations, and supplier/subcontractor management.
* Assist in managing subcontractor accounts, including valuations, payments, and variations.
* Conduct site visits to ensure accurate measurement and assess variations to the original contract.
* Assist in preparing final accounts and post-contract duties.
* Work closely with the project management team to provide cost-related advice and support.
* Ensure all contractual documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects project costs.
* Provide support for project financial audits, ensuring activities align with company standards and regulations.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* A keen interest in construction or engineering sectors.
* Some experience in quantity surveying is preferred but not essential.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and relevant quantity surveying software.
* A proactive problem solver who can work independently.
* Motivated to develop a career in Quantity Surveying.
Salary & Benefits
* £40,000 - £50,000 DOE
