Job Title: Utilities and Power L&D SME
Location: Warwick (Hybrid: 2 Days Onsite Including Thursday)
Rate: Up to £600 per day (Umbrella), PAYE Option Available
Contract Duration: 6 Months
About the Role
As a Utilities and Power L&D SME, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting our client's mission to ensure a skilled workforce ready to tackle the challenges of a net‑zero energy future. You'll work closely with teams across four European countries, focusing on training and capabilities that drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Vision: Craft a forward‑looking vision for the organisation's technological capabilities, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Learning Plan Development: Create and manage the annual operational learning plan, ensuring all training requirements are met for safety and compliance.
* Training Matrix Management: Oversee the training matrix that encompasses technical engineering, safety and compliance courses for interconnector operations.
* Competency Roadmap: Lead the development and execution of a strategic competency roadmap, enhancing team capabilities.
* Gap Analysis: Implement tools for competency gap analysis and facilitate the Operations Capability Forum for cross‑functional collaboration.
* Metrics and Reporting: Regularly update leadership and stakeholders on progress and outcomes.
* Change Management: Guide teams through transitions during technology adoption, providing necessary training and support.
What You Bring
* Background: Engineering technical or L&D background within the utilities/energy industry.
* Experience: Demonstrated experience in learning and development within the energy sector.
* Communication Skills: Strong ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders and effectively communicate complex concepts.
* Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate dynamic, fast‑paced environments.
* Technical Know‑How: Basic understanding of converter station assets and the Interconnector Safety Management System; familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
* Knowledge of the Interconnector Safety Management System and basic technical knowledge of converter station assets, plant/equipment, production and emergency response.
Qualifications
* Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience in project/program planning.
* Valid UK Driving Licence.
* Desirable: Understanding of high‑voltage environments and project management training.
