Maintenance Engineer
Location: Larkhall
Salary: £47,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Days – 6am to 6pm
Rota: Alternating weekly pattern. Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Week 2: Wednesday & Thursday – providing an excellent work‑life balance with extended time off each cycle.
We are recruiting for a leading UK‑wide injection moulding company, proudly supplying high‑quality precision plastic components to major automotive OEMs as well as manufacturers in automated packaging and chemical hygiene sectors.
We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to play a key role in maintaining state‑of‑the‑art injection moulding equipment in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment serving diverse and technically challenging sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide first‑response fault diagnosis and resolution for machine breakdowns; escalated to Lead Engineer or specialist support when necessary.
* Deliver Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) activities to meet or exceed KPI targets.
* Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and strictly adhere to 5S principles at all times.
* Carry out thorough, effective handovers with clear written and verbal communication to ensure seamless shift transitions.
* Order spare parts through the correct administrative processes when required.
* Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues to implement permanent solutions and reduce repeat failures.
* Lead by example in professional conduct (e.g., no eating/drinking in production areas except water, excellent time management).
* Collaborate effectively with third‑party contractors when support is needed.
* Optimise resource use on jobs, making the best use of skills, people, and tools.
* Provide supervision, guidance, and coaching to Apprentices during joint tasks.
Experience / Qualifications
* Time‑served and formally qualified Maintenance Engineer.
* Minimum 4 years post‑qualification experience in a relevant engineering role.
* 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification (or equivalent) and proven practical experience.
* Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
* Proactive, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
* Experience with hydraulic systems; previous work in a manufacturing/production environment (ideally injection moulding or similar high‑volume processes).
