Behavioural Specialist
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioural Specialist to provide dedicated support for two autistic pupils in a Bolton primary school. This role involves implementing personalised strategies to support emotional regulation, engagement with learning, and positive behaviour, while working closely with school staff and families.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 and small group support tailored to the individual needs of two SEN pupils.
* Implement behaviour support plans and autism‑specific strategies to promote emotional wellbeing and engagement.
* Use therapeutic and structured approaches to help pupils manage transitions, sensory needs, and social interactions.
* Collaborate with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
* Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and other documentation.
* Promote inclusion and a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Preferable Experience
* Experience supporting autistic children in a primary school setting.
* Knowledge of autism‑specific strategies.
* Familiarity with emotional regulation tools and behaviour management frameworks.
* Experience working with children with additional needs including ADHD, anxiety, or communication difficulties.
* Understanding of safeguarding and SEND legislation.
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification in Behaviour Support, Teaching Assistance, Psychology, or a related field.
* Autism awareness or SEND training (e.g., NAS Autism Training, Team Teach).
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
* Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
