Overview
Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner role within the AHP Therapy team. The post holder will be allocated a delegated patient caseload by the qualified AHP and is expected to work independently, assessing the patient’s care needs, modifying existing treatment plans, and delivering care without supervision. This includes progressing patients, reassessing and discharging within the scope of practice. The role supports qualified AHP staff by taking an active clinical role within the specialist clinical area as guided by evidence-based protocols produced by the registered practitioner. To support efficient service delivery, the practitioner will delegate tasks to others in the team and maximise the use of technology (e.g. telehealth) and adopt new ways of working.
Responsibilities
* Allocate and manage a delegated patient caseload as directed by the qualified AHP.
* Assess patients’ care needs and modify treatment plans; deliver care without supervision.
* Progress patients, reassess, and discharge within the scope of practice.
* Support qualified AHP staff by taking an active clinical role within the specialist clinical area with guidance from evidence-based protocols.
* Delegate tasks to others in the team and maximise the use of technology (e.g. telehealth).
* Adopt new ways of working to improve service delivery.
