About the role
The Fundraising Manager will act as lead in all fundraising activities and, as such, will be a highly developed specialist in fundraising approaches. They will be expected to be pro-active in identifying and developing new opportunities in order to maximise appropriate charitable fundraising throughout the Trust. They will be the lead on high profile fundraising appeals and, by sensitive and appropriate means, procure charitable income which meets agreed finance targets and timescales. This will require excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills, and excellent team leadership.
Main duties
* Responsible for development and review of an effective Fundraising Strategy and associated Fundraising Plan to drive an increase in fundraising income for the charity.
* Develop and manage a fundraising plan, in line with the charity strategy to achieve agreed targets. Maintain and develop processes to ensure that fundraising is safe, legal, and appropriate.
* Ensure all funding enquiries and relationships are appropriately managed, and develop and nurture relationships to generate income from high net worth individuals and organisations.
* Manage and build relationships with those with influence/affluence across the Trust’s community to enlist them to be ambassadors for the charity.
* Manage and build relationships with strategic Trust staff members across departments and sites to build awareness and confidence in the charity.
* Prepare reports on the work of the charity, including the Annual Report, and verbal presentations where appropriate for the Corporate Trustee, Charity Fundraising Committee and Charity Management Committee.
* Have responsibility for the implementation of appropriate protocols and policies for the handling and receipting of donations in collaboration with the Finance Team, including financial reporting. With administrative support, ensure processes are compliant with these protocols and policies to record all relevant information about donors and potential donors on the Charity database in line with data protection legislation (GDPR).
* Build public and internal awareness of all fundraising activities through a marketing strategy in collaboration with the Communications Team, including but not limited to promotional print, local media, and social media.
* Be the Trust’s expert of fundraising. Support the Charity Management Committee to ensure all appeals, donations and gifts are appropriate and received for the services that are in line with the Trust’s strategy.
* Manage all legislative requirements and regulations for safe and legal fundraising
* Develop and manage systems for evaluating communications activity, including media coverage, making recommendations for changes to the strategy where necessary.
* Source and manage suppliers as needed.
* Manage the performance of staff in the Fundraising Team, including carrying out annual reviews and appraisals as necessary.
* Be willing and able to work flexibly, with travel between hospital sites and to external relationships and out of hours work required where appropriate for meetings and events.
* Critically examine working practices within the department to identify cost improvements and effective measures, develop and implement action plans

* Manage and review the fundraising financial reports and the fundraising team budget alongside liaising with Finance team to ensure the budget is managed within appropriate financial protocols.
Essential person specification requirements
* Relevant first degree level or equivalent
* Fully trained in and with good skill levels in use of Microsoft Office 2007, specifically Word (advanced), PowerPoint (advanced) and Excel (intermediate)
* Evidence of further training/leadership courses
* Efficient at managing high volumes of email and other communications
* Time and project management skills
* Experience of dealing with difficult situations to achieve mutually acceptable outcomes
* Experience in planning, budgeting, reporting on campaigns.
