You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. What you'll do at work Process and prepare financial and business forms for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc. Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the Accounts Director Help oversee and manage individual accounts Create, send, and follow up on invoices Review and adhere to department budgets Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and/or clients Report any troubling discoveries or suspicion of wrongdoing to the proper authorities Assist the Accounts Director in creating financial reports on a regular basis Adhere to the company's or organisation's financial policies and procedures Answer question and provide assistance to stakeholders, customers, and clients as needed Attend finance department meetings, sometimes assisting with financial reporting to Managers and Senior Managers Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions Where you'll work Unit 9 Enterprise Court, Manners Avenue, Manners Industrial Estate Ilkeston DE7 8EW Training Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts. Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts. Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations. Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders. Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand. Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications. Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data. Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications. Training schedule The Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship standard includes 6 AAT exams, in addition to the Synoptic Assessment as part of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) process. The knowledge units will be delivered at the EMA training hub in Derby, or online (depending on apprentices’ location) through day release.
