Employment Specialist – Criminal Justice, Basildon
Working Pattern – Monday to Friday
Salary / Band – £25,000 – £27,000 (dependant on experience)
Contract – Permanent
Do you take pride in what you do, and can you think creatively about how different organisations can work together to deliver a better service?
Are you happy to talk with employers and help match people into meaningful work?
Experience in this field would be an advantage but not essential if you can demonstrate the right skills and knowledge.
Open Road’s Employment Specialist team aims to increase the number of people moving into employment from community services, focusing on offending and complex needs.
A day in the life
I start my day by checking in with treatment teams I am integrated with, discussing current clients and potential referrals.
I have two clients today: one is a new referral, and I plan to start her vocational profile, considering her background in care and interest in hospitality roles. I already have employers in mind based on previous engagement.
The second client had an unsuccessful interview at Halfords Auto Centre last week. I will follow up on a retail role they discussed and support him with interview debrief and confidence coaching.
This afternoon, I will engage with employers, including a meeting with an event planning company, and visit a gym to discuss a client’s interest in becoming a personal trainer. I will also log into the weekly telekit to present our area's monthly update.
