Maintenance Part Time – Sandpiper – Alford

We are seeking an aspiring or experienced gardener to join our caring and supportive team. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the gardens of our care home, ensuring they are attractive and beneficial for residents. The role also involves a variety of maintenance duties, including painting, decorating, small electrical repairs, handling, repairs, and operation of tools and equipment. This is a unique dual role at our Sandpiper Care Home.
Additional duties include:
1. Maintaining the gardens to a high standard, seasonally appropriate
2. Performing gardening tasks such as planting, potting, weeding, pruning, hoeing, digging, edging, lawn care, and pathway maintenance
3. Ensuring pathways, entrances, exits, and parking areas are safe and free of litter and debris, including seasonal fall
4. Maintaining tools and equipment, keeping them clean, safe, and properly stored
5. Keeping sheds and storage areas tidy, clean, and secured when not in use
6. Engaging residents in gardening activities to promote independence
7. Understanding and catering to residents' needs and preferences in the garden
8. Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs
9. Performing painting and decorating to a high standard that enhances the environment
10. Completing maintenance tasks within the home to a competent standard
11. Communicating effectively with external contractors as needed
12. Monitoring water temperatures in sinks, showers, and baths, with accurate record-keeping
13. Contributing to the safety and happiness of residents and staff, both inside and outside the home
