Senior Children\'s Residential Support Worker — Location: Bridgend, South Wales. Salary: £30,000 - £31,000 per annum. Contract: Full-Time, Permanent.
The Role
Are you an experienced Support Worker looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Senior Support Worker to join our team in Bridgend.
As a Senior, you will be a role model for the staff team and a consistent, supportive figure for the young people in our care. You will work closely with the Deputy and Registered Manager to ensure the home remains a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that meets all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Shift Leadership: Lead shifts effectively, ensuring that daily routines are followed and that the highest standards of care are maintained.
* Mentorship: Support and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance on best practices and de-escalation techniques.
* Care Planning: Assist in the development, implementation, and review of individualized care plans and risk assessments.
* Safeguarding: Act as a champion for safeguarding, ensuring all concerns are reported and documented in line with organizational and local authority procedures.
* Documentation: Oversee daily logs, incident reports, and handovers, ensuring they are professional, objective, and compliant with care regulations.
* Community Engagement: Support young people in attending school, medical appointments, and social activities within the Bridgend area.
Essential Requirements
* Qualification: You must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (specifically the Children and Young People pathway) or an equivalent recognized qualification.
* Experience: Proven experience working within a Children\'s Residential Care setting is essential. You must understand the unique challenges and rewards of this environment.
* Leadership Potential: While previous senior experience is a plus, we are looking for individuals with the confidence to lead a team and make sound decisions under pressure.
* Knowledge: A strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and current care regulations.
* Logistics: Due to the requirements of the role (appointments and activities), a full UK driving license is highly desirable.
