Learning Support Assistant
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and supportive Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Andover area. This long‑term role involves providing additional support to children who may need help with learning, confidence, emotional regulation, or accessing the curriculum.
You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils throughout the school day, offering reassurance, guidance, and tailored assistance where required. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a structured, supportive environment.
This position suits individuals with experience in support roles, care, youth work, SEN, or graduates looking to gain meaningful school‑based experience before moving into teaching, psychology, or related fields.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils who require additional help
Assist pupils with classroom activities, learning tasks, and routines
Help students stay focused, confident, and engaged during lessons
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Work alongside teachers and support staff to implement learning strategies
Encourage independence, resilience, and social development
Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
Calm, patient, and confident supporting varied learning needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Adaptable and reliable in a classroom setting
Passionate about supporting young people to succeed
Graduates in psychology, education, or child‑related subjects encouraged to apply
Contract Details:
Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Andover
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
Contract: Long‑term
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience with children desirable
SEND experience beneficial but not essential
Safeguarding training can be provided
Eligibility:
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
