Senior Assembly Technician | Oxford | £35,000 - £45,000
My client is a leading organisation in the space sector, known for delivering cutting‑edge mission technology and supporting high‑profile international space programmes. They are seeking a Senior Assembly Technician to join their team.
The Role
As a Senior Assembly Technician, you will play a key role within the Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) function, supporting the build and integration of high‑precision space hardware.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble and integrate mechanical and electrical components, sub‑assemblies, and systems in accordance with technical drawings and work instructions
* Perform electrical wiring, cable harnessing and connector terminations to recognised industry standards (e.g. IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑A‑620)
* Carry out soldering and rework activities in line with IPC‑J‑STD‑001
* Create and maintain risk assessments
* Accurately record test data and complete all required project and quality documentation
Key Skills and Experience
* ONC / HNC / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
* 5‑10 years' experience in a hands‑on assembly, integration or test role, ideally within aerospace, defence or electronics
* Strong practical skills in mechanical fitting, wiring and assembly
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
* Experience using hand tools, torque tools and test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes)
