Project Manager – Structural Steelwork

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £60,000–£75,000 + benefits package

Steel projects only move as well as the person driving them.

From the first handover meeting through to the final bolt on site, this role sits at the centre of every stage of delivery.

With a strong pipeline of work across commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors, this structural steel specialist is looking for a Project Manager who can keep programmes on track, coordinate multiple teams and solve problems before they become delays.

You'll be the link between clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams and site crews, making sure everyone is working to the same plan and every project reaches site safely, on time and within budget.

What you'll be doing

• Manage structural steelwork projects from contract award through to completion and handover
• Coordinate detailing, fabrication, procurement and site installation teams
• Develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved
• Monitor budgets, variations and commercial performance throughout delivery
• Oversee site activities, subcontractors and erection sequencing
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders

What they're looking for

Must have:

• Previous experience managing structural steelwork or steel fabrication projects
• Strong understanding of fabrication and erection processes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract management
• Good knowledge of health and safety requirements within construction environments

Nice to have:

• Experience managing large or complex steelwork packages
• Familiarity with NEC, JCT or other standard forms of contract
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and installation teams across multiple sites
