Job Overview
Clinical Nurse Specialist – Neuromuscular and Inherited White Matter (Paediatric Neurology) Band 7 (NHS AfC) – Fixed term contract: 12 months (Maternity leave cover).
Location: Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Town Birmingham. Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week (flexible working arrangements may be considered). Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 per annum. Closing date: 02/06/2026 23:59.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical nursing care for children with a variety of neurological and neuromuscular disorders.
* Offer support, education and work autonomously to deliver excellent patient care as part of the wider specialist Neurology teams.
* Provide liaison and support to Paediatric services, schools, hospices and other community settings to ensure patient pathways are followed and children, young people and families receive the highest quality care.
* Collaborate with neuromuscular and neuro‑rehabilitation services, paediatric neurophysiology, radiology, child psychiatry, psychology and allied health professionals.
Qualifications & Experience
* Paediatric neuroscience nursing experience.
* Band 6 experience.
* Registered General Nurse (RGN), Registered Nurse Child (RN Child).
* Degree level education or equivalent experience.
* Mentorship, teaching and assessing qualification.
* Experience of paediatric neuromuscular or inherited white matter disease.
* Non‑medical prescriber.
* Competence with NHS database systems.
* Leadership and management qualification.
