SEND Support Assistant – Y031 (York) Daily Rate: £90–£110/day Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are looking for a dedicated and proactive SEND Support Assistant to join a specialist school in York (YO31). The Role: As a SEND Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students access learning and daily activities. You’ll need to be adaptable, patient, and hands-on, with a genuine commitment to supporting pupils with a range of needs. Your responsibilities will include: Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND. Moving & Handling support, including hoists, slings, and safe wheelchair transfers. Supporting pupils with personal care (feeding, toileting, changing). Assisting students with mobility and physical needs throughout the school day. Building positive relationships with pupils and staff, being both approachable and proactive. What We’re Looking For: Experience working in SEND, care, or support roles (school or care setting). Moving & Handling training (or willingness to complete). Confident with wheelchair handling and physical support. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). A strong sense of initiative – able to step in and support where needed. UK driving licence and access to transport (highly desirable due to location). Reliable, empathetic, and committed to making a difference. What We Offer: Competitive pay: £90–£110 per day. Long-term roles with the potential to go temp-to-perm.
