Electronics Engineer – Production Engineering
A high-technology engineering business is building a new Production Engineering capability within its R&D function and is looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to play a key role in that transition.
This is a hands-on role focused on taking complex electronic products from development into robust, scalable manufacturing.
The Role
You will take ownership of all electronic and electrical aspects required to deliver a repeatable, compliant manufacturing and test capability. This includes assembly, calibration, test strategy, repair, and continuous improvement across production.
You will operate at the interface between R&D and manufacturing, ensuring products are fully ready for build, test, and scale.
Key Responsibilities
New Product Introduction
* Support transfer of products from R&D into manufacturing
* Define and control BOMs within ERP systems
* Ensure designs are suitable for production through DFM and DFT reviews
* Lead electronics workstreams within NPI projects
* Work closely with design engineers to finalise manufacturable solutions
Production Test & Development
* Define and implement production test strategies
* Develop test fixtures, jigs, and automated test equipment
* Support development of test software and scripts
Manufacturing Process Development
* Optimise PCB assembly, cable harnessing, and system integration
* Support calibration and configuration processes
* Work with suppliers to ensure consistent build quality
Continuous Improvement
* Improve manufacturing efficiency, yield, and test coverage
* Support cost reduction through design and process refinement
* Implement engineering changes to improve reliability and serviceability
Production Support
* Troubleshoot electronic and system-level faults
* Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
* Support non-conformance and CAPA activities
Documentation & Control
- Produce build, test, and calibration documentation- Support configuration control and engineering change processes
Cross-Functional Work
- Act as the electronics interface across R&D, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain- Support supplier engagement and ongoing improvement initiatives
Required Experience
* Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
* Background in electronics production or manufacturing engineering
* Strong understanding of PCB assembly and electronic integration
* Experience with production test methods and fault finding
* Familiarity with standards such as ISO9001, AS9100, IPC610, ESD
* Experience developing test fixtures or verification processes
* Strong documentation capability
Desirable
* NPI experience from prototype to volume manufacture
* Knowledge of DFM, DFT, and lean manufacturing
* Experience with calibration systems and measurement equipment
* Exposure to scripting or automation for test environments
* Understanding of engineering change control processes
