Strengthen Unimed’s customer relationships and drive sustainable sales growth through proactive account development, new business opportunities, and partnerships, with a focus on sustainability and education.


About the Role

The Customer Development and Relations Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and growing a defined portfolio of assigned customer accounts across the UK healthcare sector, while driving commercial growth and identifying new opportunities.

The position focuses on connecting Unimed’s value proposition with the needs of neurophysiology professionals in both NHS and private healthcare settings. The post holder will lead engagement within their assigned accounts, manage opportunities and key relationships, and represent Unimed at strategic meetings, global distributor events, and industry conferences as relevant to their customer portfolio.

The role also supports sustainability and education initiatives, ensuring Unimed’s commercial success aligns with responsible, long-term partnerships. Working closely with the Managing Director and Customer Service team, the position ensures consistency between account development, relationship management, and day-to-day customer support for the accounts under their responsibility.


Key Responsibilities


Customer Relations & Development

* Identify and prioritise new business opportunities across NHS and private healthcare networks.
* Proactively develop and maintain relationships with NHS procurement teams to support compliant, value-driven purchasing decisions.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, clinicians, technical leads, and NHS procurement representatives.
* Develop and present tailored commercial proposals highlighting value, sustainability, and clinical benefit.
* Collaborate with the Managing Director to maximise business opportunities by structuring competitive pricing and delivery timescales aligned with business objectives.
* Review distributor agreements quarterly in line with the agreed distributor framework, ensuring alignment with Unimed’s commercial and compliance standards.
* Prepare and present quarterly sales analysis to the Managing Director, summarising performance, successes, and forecasts.
* Conduct annual reports with key accounts representing the top 20% of revenue.
* Collaborate with the internal team to ensure opportunities align with agreed marketing campaigns, operational capacity, and sustainability goals.
* Represent Unimed at UK conferences and international distributor meetings, maintaining a professional and strategic presence.


Sustainability & Education Projects

* Support sustainability initiatives with customers and suppliers in line with NHS Net Zero objectives and environmentally responsible procurement practices.
* Identify and promote Unimed products or solutions that demonstrate measurable sustainability benefits.
* Support educational collaborations with hospitals, universities, and neurophysiology networks to promote best practice and professional development.
* Work with the Internal Teams to identify opportunities for future Unimed-hosted or supported workshops, courses, and webinars.


Collaboration & Internal Communication

* Engage in regular update discussions with Customer Service Administrator(s), sharing information on customer activity, account developments, and potential growth areas.
* In Quarterly Team Meetings, provide insight on market trends, product performance, and customer feedback to enhance internal product knowledge.
* Contribute to internal discussions on product positioning, pricing, and customer satisfaction.
* Map customer infrastructure, identifying key contacts, department objectives, and service areas.
* Analyse market trends and customer data to identify emerging opportunities and risks. These should be included in the Quality Management System.
* Monitor and report competitor activity and pricing to the Unimed team as it becomes available.
* Maintain accurate customer and opportunity tracking within Teams and Customer Contact card in Business Central.
* Develop commercial proposals and lead contract negotiations to secure profitable outcomes.
* Monitor financial performance across key accounts using data-driven insights.
* Contribute to annual sales planning, providing informed forecasts and growth strategies.
* Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant ethical, regulatory, and quality standards.


Quality & Compliance

* Ensure all procedures are followed in line with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
* Support documentation and record‑keeping to maintain traceability and compliance.
* Assist with internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives as required.


Person Specification

* Degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in account management, business development, or customer relationship management.
* 5 + years of experience managing customer relationships or developing business accounts in a professional environment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Commercial awareness and the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
* Confident presenting ideas, proposals, or solutions to customers and internal teams.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines.
* Willingness to travel across the UK to visit customers, attend conferences, and represent the company.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Experience working with NHS organisations, healthcare providers, or regulated industries.
* Previous experience in medical devices, healthcare technology, or clinical environments.
* Experience engaging with procurement teams or tender processes.
* Training or qualifications in sales, account management, or business development.
* Awareness of sustainability initiatives or environmentally responsible procurement practices.
* Experience presenting at conferences, workshops, or professional events.
* Familiarity with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
