Location: Home-based, ideally located near Essex (with significant travel required).
Role Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of high-speed labelling equipment in demanding manufacturing/packaging environments. This includes installation, commissioning, operator training, routine maintenance, breakdown repair, and service support. Your role will involve substantial travel and occasional weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, commission and hand-over high speed labelling (and related) machines to customer sites.
* Provide operator and maintenance training to customer staff.
* Perform routine maintenance and service interventions to maximise uptime of installed equipment.
* Diagnose and fault-find electrical, mechanical and pneumatic issues (including PLC fault-finding).
* Travel frequently and work away during the week; occasional weekend assignments may be required.
* Engage professionally with customers, influence decisions, and promote after-sales value (spare parts, upgrades, service contracts).
* Work independently, prioritise tasks, and deliver high quality service with commercial awareness.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to stay away from home during assignments.
Desirable Skills
* Formal electrical or mechanical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, HNC/HND however relevant experience will be considered).
* Exposure to packaging-line automation, production-line environments and high throughput consumer-goods manufacturing.
* Previous field-service experience in a capital-equipment environment.

Competitive salary: £40,000-£45,000 basic.
40-hour standard week; overtime paid at 1.5× & 2.0× rates (potential OT earnings: £10,000-£15,000).
