The Role
Saab is expanding in the UK and seeks a talented and highly motivated Inspection & Test Technician to support radar and sensors activities at the Fareham office. The role is based in Fareham with possible trips to Sweden for training and knowledge transfer. The G1X radar is a current focus, a software-defined radar with a regular capability update cycle post-delivery and an established production line. You will work in the Production department as part of the Test & Inspection team, inspecting produced items and units and testing units and the G1X Radar.
As part of Saab UK, you will contribute to delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges and may participate in knowledge transfer/training activities as needed.
Key responsibilities
* Support Inspection & Test Team Leader by proactively helping to achieve production goals
* Ensure soldering and electrical loom work meets high standards in line with company procedures; test functionality of produced units and sub-assemblies
* Help and support others with training by sharing knowledge and skills
* Understand and interpret electrical drawings
* Follow documented processes and record results
* Carry out other duties as directed by the team leader or Production Supervisor; maintain proficiency with relevant IT and systems
* Act ethically, with integrity and in the best interest of the business
* Maintain professional relationships with team members and other departments to meet objectives and deadlines
Required Skills
* Positive, social, results-oriented team player with 3-5 years minimum in inspection, testing and measurement
* Capable of inspecting to IPC Class 3 standard
* Familiar with standard test and measurement equipment used in communications, radar or electronic warfare environments
* Enjoy working in a team and developing others while also able to work independently
* Good technical communication skills
* Computer literate and able to manage time effectively
* Experienced with multimeters and oscilloscopes; knowledge of analogue and digital systems
* Good knowledge of electrical and electronic components and principles
